laparoscopic spay
(Keyhole spay)

For pets, as in humans, keyhole surgery is a minimally invasive alternative to the common open surgeries performed on patients.

The most common surgery we perform is ovariectomy.

This is the alternative to a routine spay.

With this surgery we only remove the ovaries, using a camera to visualise them and long instruments to operate.

This leaves your pets with two little incisions which are glued, so there are no sutures to remove.

Benefits of Keyhole spay-

Compared with traditional open surgery, keyhole surgery offers many advantages, including:

1) Less invasive

2) Reduced perioperative pain

3) Smaller wounds with no external stitches

4) Reduced trauma and inflammation

5) Lower risk of wound break down

6) Faster recovery and a quicker return to normal activity

Associated Costs

Along with the many benefits of laparoscopic spay procedures, there may be increased costs compared with traditional surgery.

These additional costs are associated with the advanced equipment, specialised training, and enhanced patient monitoring required to perform minimally invasive surgery safely and effectively.

Factors Contributing to Increased Costs:

  • Specialised laparoscopic surgical equipment and instruments

  • Advanced anaesthetic monitoring equipment

  • Ongoing staff training and certification

  • Longer surgical setup and preparation times

  • Maintenance and sterilisation of specialist instruments

  • Use of high-definition imaging systems and surgical towers

  • Enhanced pain management and patient care protocols
